Helping Hands

Yesterday I was on my way to a photo shoot for a realtor when my tire blew out while I was driving on the highway. I handled it pretty well and was able to get off the road safely. As you can see, I sure know how to destroy a tire!! Thankfully the realtor wasn't upset when I called to tell her what was happening.

I was shown how to change a tire when I first got my license so I got out and started the process. Thankfully the blown tire was on the side away from traffic and the gazillions of Semis barrelling down the road. I was a little frustrated and had trouble getting the spare tire out of its place but things were moving along until the jack was in place but I could not loosen the bolts. I struggled for what seemed forever and finally had to give up. It had been a half hour of struggle and no one had stopped to help. I called my father-in-law & he was on his way to give a hand when finally a man & his wife stopped. He had seen me and had to go to the next exit to turn around and then loop back around again to my side of the highway. The bolts were a little tough for him too so he stood on the bar to loosen them. I never thought of that!

I am so grateful for this man and his wife for stopping. He said he makes it a point to stop anytime he sees someone in need- that it is better for him to take a few minutes of his time to help rather than risk having somone with bad intentions stop to 'help'. What a great example this man is showing people everywhere! I am thankful that there are still people out in the world that aren't afraid to be good Samaritans. I hope you are one of them too. :)
