Rose Graduation

Rose is a home-schooler who will be graduating in just a few months at the ripe old age of 16. An over-achiever, she's been taking college courses since she was 15 years old. It is students like Rose who encourage me to want to home-school my kids one day.

Vacation

We were very happy to be able to take a vacation this year especially since we had not expected to be able to. This vacation was both much needed and enjoyed by all. It seemed to last longer than any other vacation we've taken and all went well except for our fuel pump giving out on the last day. :) Can you guess where we went?

I curled Mia's hair. I took all that time the night before and she slept in the foam curlers and then as soon as she got up and I took them out she wanted to go to the pool. And there went the curls! She didn't hesitate one bit in jumping in and going under.

The pool at our hotel was awesome! It had 3 water slides including this monster!

Blake loves his dinosaurs!

This is Bob. He was born without a tail and lives at Alligator Adventure!

Lego Head

This amazing sculpture was at a lego store. I cannot imagine having this much free time or the creativity to build such a thing as this. I've seen some other awesome things too like a giant Loch Ness monster, people, animals and more. It just goes to show that with unlimited time and unlimited legos, anything in your imagination can be accomplished. :)

Whimsical Rooms

Today I photographed a gorgeous home for a real estate agent who is about to list a property. The home was stunning with 8 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and fireplace. Everything was so elegant and beautiful throughout the home so I was taken back by just how amazingly whimsical and cool the finished basement was. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here is the bathroom for you:

It reminds me of a cool, whimsical home Tiff & I photographed in Richmond, VA on a business trip to help out a photographer in that area. I love abstract decorating like this but my husband won't allow it (not yet anyway.) Until then, I'll just keep collecting creative ideas from the homes I shoot to make him ask me what in the world am I thinking. :)

Niece-sitting

Earlier this week I got to spend some time with my little niece Nora, who I never get to see enough of. I took her to the park and she did NOT want to leave! She was getting so tired because it was her nap time but she wanted to keep sliding and swinging and putting leaves on my head. When she got super tired and I said it was time to leave, she threw a mini-tantrum by running away from me and finding a tiny little stump to sit her tiny little bottom on and crossed her arms as if to say "Hmmph!" She was so adorable!

Paintball

Yesterday Nathan & I took our youth kids for another day of paintball. Nathan is a paintball-aholic and has 6 or 7 guns and gear and lets our students borrow if they don't have one of their own. We play with some friends at our friend's huge horse farm with lots of trees and a forest devoted to our paintball games. I was really looking forward to playing but I guess it just wasn't my day. I let everyone else that wanted to play grab the guns first and sat out for the 1st 2 games. Then a girl sat out so I could play. I couldn't get my gun to fire so I came back down and waited for the game to over and grabbed another one of Nathan's guns that another player had just used but wasn't going to play for the next round. So I went with the group that was planned to walk all the way around to the backside of the hill to sneak up on the back of the fort for a surprise attack. We had to be quiet and walk slowly so we wouldn't be heard. We were creeping around for at least 10-15 minutes walking pretty far and I finally got into the perfect position behind an 'enemy'. I crept quietly into position, aimed my gun, prepared to take him out... and when I pulled the trigger my air canister ran out and so my very first and only shot ended up falling maybe 2 feet in front of my gun. Turns out the player who had used the gun was a little too trigger happy and used the entire canister in 3 rounds of playing. So all that walking and one lame pathetic shot. So the next game I was determined to at least shoot a few balls and get at least 1 person out. Sadly, I was taken out by one of the military guys that play with us and was the very first player out after shooting only a few balls. In frustration, I gave up and went to go hang out with the people back at the house & help make lunch for everyone. Maybe next time will be better for me :)

Baby Kaleb is 4 months old!

I can't believe that he is already so big! He's growing so fast. Today was our first attempt at rice cereal and he took it like a champ. He was loving it!

But I think it wore him out!

Martinsburg Air Show

Two weeks ago we took the kids to the Martinsburg Air Show. It was really neat seeing the planes and getting to go inside the big C-5A Galaxy which looks to be the same big grey plane that carried Tony Stark home from the desert in "IronMan". The jet was so loud, but awesome to watch! The parachuters at the beginning was exciting too. I had never seen a person jump out of a plane in real life. It was a bit scary, I must say. So if you get the opportunity to go see an airshow, take it. They have a lot of different interesting things. :) ~Tiffany

TV addiction

I am sad to say that I am so terribly addicted that I was actually counting the days until the new season of Heroes started. I have never been a huge TV watcher - even as a kid I'd rather read a book or play outside than watch TV. My husband, Nathan, is an avid TV watcher and loves movies even more. He's the one who started my addiction by forcing me to watch movies and shows with him instead of going out. Don't get me wrong- I still love a good book and when hooked on a good series become a bit obsessive about reading it (I read the entire Stephanie Myers series in 4 days and would bring it with me so I could read at stoplights) But since Nathan doesn't read the same books I do we don't get the chance to talk about all the details like we do with the latest Heroes episode and what we think may happen next or what should have happened differently. Like how idiotic we think Hiro is and how we'd just go back in time for 5 minutes to change the current mistake he made. Yet even with our irritation with Hiro we can't help but watch and were so excited with the new season. It's off to a powerful start.

Anyone else addicted?

Fair Time

Last night Nathan & I went to our county Fair with some friends of ours. Of course there are all the crazy rides and games with all the lights & noise but we pretty much avoided that stuff and spent time in the arts/crafts building looking at the photography, etc and out looking at the animals. There was a cow in labor but they said it could take up to an hour so we left & came back but the calf was born by that time. The guys wanted to see a bull for whatever reason so we found this guy with his huge horns. (taken with my cell phone.) We also found a booth where they were selling Sugar Gliders, which were awesome, but a bit pricey. Cute, cuddly and they can live in your pocket. How adorable. It's neat how the Fair never changes yet it is different every year because I change.

Wii Fit

I've been having so much fun on my Wii Fit. I'm proud to say that after a few weeks on it, that my Fit Age is 6 years YOUNGER than my real age. The yoga is fun to do and a nice way to stretch and relax but my favorite thing to do when I want to FEEL like I'm getting a workout is the hula hoop game. That's the picture here, my chubby little Mii character rotating those hips and having a good time while I'm sweating to death in real life but enjoying it. Really, if you have been considering the purchase you should just do it. We debated over the cost of it but it's cheaper than a gym membership & I've actually used it nearly every day, which is way more than I can say for the membership I wasted last year at Gold's Gym. Yay for a fun way to exercise.

Happy Birthday Mia

For Mia's birthday Tiffany & Kenny had a birthday party at the bowling alley. The kids had so much fun rolling the balls and didn't seem to notice when the adults would give the ball an extra push so it would actually make it down to the pins. Ironically enough with both Tiffany & I there neither of us have pics of the event. So instead of a picture of Mia bowling, you get a picture of her at Will's birthday party where we did both get pictures. :)

Cute lil' Caiti

This is the newest addition to the family that we haven't introduced yet. Caiti is only 7 days old in this picture and was so alert & looking at everything trying to take it all in. Yet another cutie to add to the growing group of nieces & nephews that provide us with plenty of photo opps.

Kate & Ted

Kate & Ted were married in an intimate ceremony overlooking the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. It could not have been a better day, aside for the wind that no one "planned for"! :) And the city at night was gorgeous as you can see! We are so happy that we could help them celebrate!

For family & friends that wish to view photos from the evening:
you may register here to be notified once they are released.

Carrie & Tim

In just 2 1/2 days Carrie & Tim will be married! Tonight I finally got to meet Tim and we took a few photos including this cute one which was their favorite. They were so relaxed and laid back that you wouldn't think they are getting married in just a few days. I saw Carrie's dress which is gorgeous, but of course I can't give any details about that :) You'll just have to wait a few days and see it at the wedding or for family/friends that can't make it, register to see their wedding photos after they are released!

Tennessee Vacation

Nathan & I are all over the beautiful state of Tennessee this week seeing as much as we can. We came a week early to enjoy a much needed vacation before Carrie & Tim get married this coming Saturday. We spent yesterday hiking the Smokey Mountains. This shot was taken at sunset, which was beautiful. Today we went to Nashville and wanted to visit the Parthenon art museum but it was closed so we drove around the city and shopped a little. We were disappointed after hearing so much about the city but were definitely wowed by the Opryland Hotel. Nathan said it felt like what a future 'colony' would be like on another planet. Tomorrow we are headed to Chattanooga and to visit 'Rock City' which seems pretty cool then Wednesday we tour Knoxville. Trying to cram everything we can into this week! Tennessee is really beautiful from everything we've seen so far and we can't wait to explore more of it.

Sarah & Adam Wedding

Today we got to spend a fabulous day outside enjoying the wedding celebration of Sarah & Adam. It was so much fun!! Their wedding really was them exactly... so laid back & relaxed with everyone having such a fun time. I loved how it felt more like a bunch of friends & family just hanging out for the day, complete with people sprawled out on the grass enjoying the sunshine.

Congrats Sarah & Adam!! We wish you all the happiness you deserve and love you both!

- Heather & Tiffany

p.s. for those wanting to see wedding photos, check back in a few weeks here or go register to see the pics once Sarah & Adam release them. For now you can enjoy their engagement photo slideshow.

The National Zoo

On Tuesday (the 17th) it was our niece's birthday and her mommy invited us all to a trip to the zoo to celebrate. It was a beautiful day to be there. It wasn't too hot and it was not humid. It was perfect weather. Here are a few shots from the day. If you can get to the zoo, I highly recommend it....although pack a lunch and bring some water. Even though admission is FREE, a 24oz bottle of Dasani is $3.00! AANNNDD the food is pretty bad and super expensive too!

I love how the orangutans climb over you on the ropes!

I think that this is the Mama Panda, Mei Xiang, but I'm not positive. The rumors are that she may be pregnant again however they won't know for a while if it's a false pregnancy which is common in Giant Pandas. Learn something new every day!

Birds are pretty boring in my opinion (sorry bird lovers)...but we had to see the flamingos for Miranda. She said afterwards that it was her favorite animal of the day.

So there is a small glimpse of our visit. I hope you enjoyed! ~Tiffany

Sarah & Adam engagement

After many attempts, Sarah & Adam FINALLY got a chance to hang out with me on a NON-rainy day at the park! I love the way Sarah is always ready to strike a pose and her fabulous smile that continued even though she was hungry! And Adam was a real trooper. I love the boyishness that came out in the end. All in all, I had a great time and can't wait for the wedding which is in just 3 Saturdays from now!!

Here is a quick slideshow that has most, but not all, of the engagement photos. To see the rest of them you have to register to see them when Sarah & Adam release them. Leave a comment & let me know what you think!

Bridesmaid Prenup?

I came across an article that talked about a survey that was done by You & Your Wedding (based in UK). Over 1,000 women filled out the survey with about 20% of them saying yes, they would want their bridesmaids to sign a prenup and half of those ladies would kick the bridesmaid out of the wedding party for breaking the contract.

Top offenses were weight gain (not fitting in the dress), a drastic cutting/changing of the hairstyle and getting pregnant.

You & Your Wedding put together a Bridesmaid Prenup agreement based on the answers from the survey. You can download it here. They say it's up to you if you want to use it seriously or just try to have a little fun playing a joke on your Ladies.

What do you think? B-maid prenup a good idea or is it in poor taste?

Victorious Moments

Yesterday my husband Nathan & I took our church youth group to a Ropes Course. You know, the kind where you get to climb stuff in the hot sun and go on a zip line and all that fun stuff. Piece of cake. ;) Actually, the climbing part really was fun & easy but once I was up high I was quite afraid... like walking across a log high in the air and having to pass my husband mid-way across. And when my turn came for the zip line, I knew I had to just force myself to go once the guy counted to 3. Otherwise I'd just talk myself out of it. Even though that first moment was terrifying, I am SO glad I did it!! It was a really challenging day for me personally and also for our group. We really enjoyed seeing our kids work together and build better friendships in the group.
And I am so proud of my friend April, a youth leader that came with us. She is terrified of heights yet managed to talk herself into doing everything the students did the whole day. She's the one in the pic here- I grabbed my cell phone to capture her just as she jumped off the tower on the zip line. I wanted to be sure her husband could see how brave she was!
My muscles are sore today but I can't wait for the next time we get to do something like this. It was so much fun! If you ever get the chance, you should go.

Happy Birthday Lexi!!

It seems it's that time of year when I am taking so many pictures that I fall behind in my editing. However, here is a project finished!! I'm so proud of myself :)

My project completed? Only the most important birthday party that took place last weekend. HERE is a nearly 4 minute glimpse of little Miss Lexi's 5th birthday celebration- of which she is the star of the show. Lexi's silly personality really shines through these pictures. Oh- for those who didn't know, "the boy" is her first little boyfriend "Trih-En" as she says it.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Let me know what you think.

He's finally arrived!

Congrats to Tiffany who's finally popped! She & Kenny welcomed their 3rd child into the world this afternoon. I was blessed to be there and actually photograph the blessed event. (tasteful pics only, don't you worry) ;)

They have not officially named him yet- they have a list of names they like but wanted to meet the little fella before choosing what best suited him. Here is one photo of the little guy- it's up to Tiffany if we post any of the others after I get them edited.

Be sure to post some congrats on here for Tiffany to read once she can have some computer time!

Adam & Sarah's Shower

Saturday night I joined Adam and Sarah along with their friends and family for their wedding shower. The weather was awesome and could not have been better! The shower was Hawaiian themed and let me just say that those cupcakes were AMAZING! Coconut and pineapple YUM! Here are just a few of my favorites from the evening. :) ~Tiffany
